Chalet Divine

Location: Samoens

Blending Alpine Character with Contemporary Comfort

This chalet was designed to celebrate its alpine setting while introducing a contemporary, relaxed atmosphere. Natural timber was intentionally used throughout to reflect the surrounding landscape and create a strong sense of place. Rather than leaning into a traditional chalet aesthetic, the design balances warmth and authenticity with cleaner lines and modern proportions, resulting in spaces that feel both grounded and current.

Zoning Spaces with Architectural Timber Detailing

Vertical timber slats were carefully introduced to subtly divide spaces without closing them off. This design choice allows light to flow freely while creating visual separation between living zones. The slatted detailing adds rhythm and texture, reinforcing the chalet’s architectural identity and bringing a sense of craftsmanship into the interior.

Layered Living with Texture and Soft Contrast

The living area was designed as a cosy retreat after a day on the slopes, with generous seating chosen for comfort and sociability. Soft grey upholstery provides a calm base, while layered throws, cushions, and tactile rugs add warmth and depth. A mix of rustic timber accents and refined pieces—such as the crystal chandelier—was intentionally curated to create contrast and give the space its distinctive, slightly unexpected character.

Dining as a Social Heart

The dining space was designed to feel convivial and welcoming, anchored by a solid timber table selected for its warmth and durability. Upholstered dining chairs soften the setting and encourage long, relaxed meals. Statement lighting was chosen to define the space and add a touch of drama, while wall-mounted artwork introduces personality and reinforces the chalet’s eclectic, playful edge.

Bedrooms Designed for Calm and Retreat

The bedrooms were designed to feel restful and cocooning, using warm wood panelling to wrap the spaces and enhance the feeling of comfort. Neutral bedding was paired with textured cushions and throws to add softness, while carefully chosen bedside lighting creates a warm, ambient glow. Decorative details, including sculptural wall elements, were intentionally kept minimal yet characterful to maintain a sense of calm.

Bathrooms with a Spa-Like, Alpine Feel

The bathrooms were designed as serene, spa-inspired spaces, balancing natural materials with refined finishes. Timber surfaces were paired with stone textures to create warmth and contrast, while freestanding sanitaryware was selected to add a sense of luxury. Lighting was carefully considered to enhance atmosphere, and feature details—such as statement mirrors and chandeliers—bring an element of surprise and indulgence to these practical spaces.

A Cohesive Chalet with a Playful Edge

Throughout the chalet, the design choices were guided by a desire to create a cohesive yet characterful interior. Rustic materials, contemporary forms, and unexpected decorative elements were thoughtfully combined to give the chalet its unique, “funky” identity. The result is a warm, welcoming retreat that feels personal, layered, and perfectly suited to both relaxation and entertaining in the heart of the Samoëns ski resort.

We worked with Lucy on 2 projects, initially our chalet in the mountains and after such a fantastic job, we got her on board for our house in Geneva.
Lucy is a true genius at her profession. She is warm and friendly and really works with you to give you the home you dream of.
Working with her was a true pleasure, we did questionnaires, mood boards and shopping and all of it led to an amazingly beautiful chalet and home. She is able to create an ambiance that reflects your choices and advises so wisely on choices of furnishings, lightings, pictures and decorations. And if you don't know exactly what to do she is on hand to offer lots of advice but is never pushy with her opinion.
She was able to blend our differing tastes so it all worked together. The comments that we receive about our home are always highly complementary and the best one is when someone says "wow this place is so you".
We cannot recommend Lucy highly enough and would be happy to chat to anyone who would like to know more.
