Home with depth

Location: Founex

A Feature Wall Designed Around Personal Storytelling

This living room was designed with a bespoke feature wall as its focal point, intentionally created to display the clients’ personal objects, photographs, and treasured keepsakes. Built-in shelving was carefully proportioned to balance open display with visual calm, allowing each item to feel considered rather than crowded. Integrated lighting was subtly introduced to highlight these details, ensuring the wall feels warm, layered, and deeply personal.

Anchoring the Space with a Contemporary Gas Fireplace

A sleek gas fireplace was thoughtfully integrated into the feature wall to create a strong visual anchor and a natural gathering point within the room. Positioned at eye level and framed by cabinetry, the fireplace adds warmth both physically and atmospherically, offering a cosy focal point that complements the surrounding display rather than competing with it.

A Rich, Calming Colour Palette

A deep, muted blue was deliberately chosen for the feature wall to bring depth and sophistication to the space. This richer tone allows displayed objects and artwork to stand out while creating a calm, enveloping backdrop. The colour was balanced with lighter walls, soft furnishings, and natural wood tones to maintain a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere.

Comfort-Led Furniture Selection

Furniture was selected with comfort and longevity in mind. Generous seating in soft, neutral upholstery creates an inviting environment for everyday living, while accent chairs in warmer tones add contrast and character. The arrangement was carefully planned to encourage conversation and allow clear sightlines to both the fireplace and feature wall.

Layered Textures for Warmth and Depth

Layered textures were intentionally introduced to add softness and visual interest throughout the room. A patterned rug grounds the seating area, while cushions, throws, and tactile fabrics bring warmth and comfort. Natural materials—such as wood and ceramic—were used in side tables and accessories to tie the scheme together and enhance the room’s lived-in feel.

Lighting That Enhances Mood and Function

Lighting was carefully layered to support both mood and practicality. Table lamps, integrated shelf lighting, and the gentle glow of the fireplace work together to create a warm, ambient setting in the evenings, while allowing the room to remain bright and functional during the day.

A Calm and Functional Entrance Hall

The entrance hall was designed to make an immediate impression while remaining highly practical. Built-in seating with concealed storage was selected to offer a place to pause, remove shoes, and tuck away everyday essentials. Clean-lined cabinetry keeps the space feeling light and uncluttered, while open shelving above was thoughtfully incorporated to display baskets and greenery, adding warmth and texture. Soft lighting and a neutral palette were chosen to create a calm transition from outside to inside, setting the tone for the rest of the home.

A Light-Filled, Practical Laundry Room

The laundry room was carefully designed to elevate a purely functional space into one that feels considered and calm. Shaker-style cabinetry in soft tones was selected to keep the room timeless, while warm wood worktops add a natural contrast. Open shelving was intentionally introduced to break up the cabinetry and provide space for everyday items, baskets and subtle styling. Appliances were neatly integrated to maintain a clean visual flow, ensuring the room feels organised, efficient and pleasant to use.
