Elegant Home
Location: Vandoeuvres
Contemporary Elegance Rooted in Family Living
Set in the tranquil surroundings of Vandoeuvres, this interior design project was conceived for a young family seeking a home that balances modern sophistication with everyday warmth. The overarching design approach was to create interiors that feel elegant yet deeply liveable—spaces that support family life while retaining a strong sense of style and refinement.
Atmosphere-Driven Design and Bespoke Architectural Enhancements
To achieve this balance, the design focused as much on atmosphere as on aesthetics. The architectural shell was refreshed through carefully selected wall colours and bespoke wallpapers, creating depth and visual interest without overwhelming the spaces. Custom-designed cabinetry was introduced in key areas—including the TV room, dining room, and master bedroom—ensuring a seamless integration of storage, display, and architectural cohesion, where functionality enhances rather than detracts from the overall design.
Zoned Open-Plan Living for Comfort and Flow
The home was intentionally structured around social interaction and family connection. Open-plan areas were subtly divided into zones for dining, lounging, and casual gathering, defined through changes in materiality, lighting treatments, and tailored furnishings. This approach allows each area to maintain its own identity while preserving a fluid, connected layout.
Dining Area: Sculptural Details and Refined Material Choices
In the dining area, a marble-topped table anchors the space with understated luxury, complemented by soft grey upholstered chairs that add comfort and visual softness. A sculptural spiral pendant light was selected to introduce movement and artistic expression, while deep wood-toned cabinetry incorporates integrated wine storage and display shelving—blending elegance with practical, everyday use.
Kitchen Bar: Visual Continuity and Layered Lighting
The kitchen bar was designed as a natural extension of the dining space. High-back stools upholstered in grey with subtle gold detailing echo the dining palette, reinforcing visual continuity. Glass-globe pendant lighting was chosen to soften the architectural lines and provide layered ambient lighting, enhancing both function and atmosphere.
Living Area: Soft Forms and Indoor–Outdoor Connection
The living area was designed to feel relaxed yet refined. A generous light-grey sectional sofa paired with textured lounge chairs establishes a welcoming foundation, while metallic-accent coffee tables and carefully curated accessories introduce subtle contrast and personality. Floor-to-ceiling sliding doors were emphasised to maximise natural light and visually extend the living space into the garden, strengthening the connection between interior and exterior.
Material Harmony with Contemporary Accents
Throughout the home, a cohesive material palette brings unity to the design. Natural materials such as marble, wood, and metal are layered with soft textiles in muted tones to create warmth and balance. Statement lighting and touches of gold were intentionally introduced to add contemporary glamour, providing moments of visual interest within an otherwise calm, family-focused environment.
A Home Designed for Modern Family Life
The completed interior reflects a thoughtful balance between high-end design and everyday comfort. Each design decision was made to support modern family living—resulting in a home where elegance, functionality, and warmth coexist seamlessly through careful craftsmanship and considered detailing.
‘We worked with Lucy and Team for our home in Vandoeuvres. Lucy understood our taste and requirements, gave lots of options for each room in the house that represented the brief and to offer alternatives that we wouldn’t have chosen ourselves. The suppliers Lucy offered were always of a high standard and worked within time expectations. Our experience working with Lucy was very smooth, requirements were met and always good communication. We are very happy with our home and would highly recommend Lucy & her team!’
